Things to know about P.E at Ripponlea

Physical Education (P.E) has two strands:

  1. Personal, social and community health
  2. Movement and Physical Activity

In P.E students explore in detail strand 2 – we learn through moving the body, understanding movement, and learning through movement. What students have to explore at each level is defined by the Victorian Curriculum. I use this information as a framework to the content that is taught to our students at Ripponlea and then report to this at the end of Term 2 and Term 4, though continually assess. Classroom teachers incorporate the most part of strand 1 into their programmes and where I can, I link that into P.E lessons. Classroom teachers report to strand 1.

If you’re keen to see what students are learning throughout the year, please check out the following overviews, which are also on display on the P.E information board when you enter the Barrbunin.

Students in Grades 3-6 are also exposed to District representation opportunities in swimming, cross country and athletics. For these dates please see the below link and also note that all these dates are listed on the compass calendar.
