Term 2 – Week 4

In summary, the last few weeks have been action packed with: Grade 3/4 swimming programme, Grade 5/6 Lifesaving, Grade 5/6 Inter-School sport and Grade 5/6 Yoga. Along with this we have been busy in our P.E lessons developing lots of our skills, which hopefully you have seen on seesaw. In summary:

Foundation – Are very successfully developing their two handed strike. They really have got to grips with this VERY easily and we have been experimenting with cricket, T ball and hockey sticks. Really great learning. We have a few more weeks at this and then we move onto bouncing.

Grade 1/2 – Again successfully are developing their forehand strike in tennis. We are getting there with a partner feeder over the net or a line and then a partner completing a ground stroke back. Some students can even do a rally. It’s tennis season and we are looking forward to the Aus Open hitting Melbourne in January. Following tennis we move onto bouncing.

Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6 – Have been creating their own target games with a set of criteria linked to projection and speed their object aims for the target. This is something different and students are soon to present their game ideas to another group to play and get feedback.

We then move onto striking and fielding game sense. Swimming with Grade 3/4’s has been a huge success from all accounts that I have heard from teachers and students and watch out for the survey monkey coming out to the community and students soon. This will allow us to reflect and ensure we set up another great programme for 2020. Lifesaving has also been a great experience for our Grade 5/6’s as they learnt about CPR and essential rescue skills. Even if one group didn’t get into the water, they have been exposed to some very influential learning. Grade 5/6 sport results = Wins in Touch, Losses in Sofcrosse and Rounders and a draw in European Handball against Elwood.
